Brave New Prediction: Lunatic Fringe

There will be a colony on the moon in the next 25 years.








I have been kicking around an idea to write a story about getting a colony on the moon that used nothing but existing technology except for the fact that the cost of getting to the moon would be much smaller than it actually is today (say 1/100). No pretensions about being a good writer, the goal would be to try and get a rough blueprint of how it could be done if it were only cheaper.

This is an obvious fixation of any sci fi fan, and it is really amazing how close we are to being able to do this not only technically, but socially and economically as well. The following link is a good article about some of the things that are in the works:
